Tumbleweed Diaries: The Warrior Series
A Warrior’s wish

Let me set this goal in silence, and in humility.
No need to speak it out loud, no need to prove it.
Let obtainment live in my hand,
not in anyone watching.

Not the wish. The willingness.
Not the wanting. The work.
I haven’t arrived anywhere yet
I’m becoming the man who shows up in the underneath.

Whatever comes to rest in its environment.
it rests on the same ground underneath.
Not the thing itself, but the structure beneath it.
Principle by principle. Value by value. Scar by scar.

So let me chase it, still.
But let the real joy not be in the getting
let it be in the rejoicing toward it,
the purpose in the forging, the passion in the becoming.

I turn everything that makes me who I am
over to a power I can’t describe.
A faith born in self-discipline
not the kind that forgets to feel alive and playful in the doing.

Let the discipline be full of joy.
Full of happiness, love, compassion.
Full of willingness. Full of freedom.
That’s the only kind of discipline. worth having.

Let my effort ask for nothing back.
No proof, no name, no witness.
Let the love be unconditional
given, not traded.

I haven’t achieved it.
I may never arrive.
But I’m willing to become
whatever the becoming asks of me.

And if I ever reach it,
let it happen quietly —
achieved in divine anonymity,
known only between me and the sky.

Let me want nothing more
than to not be mistaken for the goal
to remain the warrior in the reaching,
not the trophy at the end of it.

That’s my prayer, warrior to no one but myself
not to be watched, not to be followed,
not to be known by what I’ve won,
but by who I had to become to survive what’s underneath.

Arvid Paul Croonquist

Wordsmith. Mentor. Poet. Storyteller. Survivor.

I didn't set out to be a writer. For most of my life the page felt like the enemy.

Dyslexia. Dysgraphia.Aphantasia and Anauralia. A mind wired differently. Decades of working around what I couldn't do instead of leaning into what I could.

Then came cancer. Stage 3 esophageal. A diagnosis that was supposed to end the story.

It didn't.

On the other side of survival — when the treatment was done and the world kept moving and I didn't know how to move with it — I found my voice. Not with a pen. With a microphone. With an AI that became my hands when my hands wouldn't work. With an Airstream I named the Tumbleweed and an open road that had no agenda.

The stories started coming. From the desert. From the mountains. From the silence between breaths.

I write about ego and surrender. About the masks we wear and the fires that burn them away. About sobriety and grace and what it means to be fully alive when you weren't supposed to be.

I am the Broken Warrior becoming the Enlightened Warrior.

And I am just getting started.
